PROCESSING REPORT |
|
All NJHA Fed Steer Shootout cattle were received one month ago at HRC Feed Yards December 13-16, 2025 and received their initial processing and official contest start weight. We are excited for a large turn out in the program this year with 236 head of cattle from 82 juniors representing 20 different states.
Starting reports were sent to all participants last week which included start weights and contest tag numbers for your specific steers. Please remember, you will need to know the contest tag numbers for your steers to find them in other reports that will be sent, so please save them where you can find and reference them.
If you lose your tag numbers and need a reminder, please email Claire Norris at cnorris@hereford.org. |

EDUCATION & RESOURCES |
|
Mark your calendars for the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout Field Day that will be held at HRC Feed Yards in Scott City, Kan., on April 17-18, 2026.
A schedule, RSVP form and additional details about the field day will be provided as they come available and as more resources are added to the Thinkific educational platform. As a reminder, though we encourage everyone to take advantage of the educational resources, completion of this material and the quizzes are only required for those juniors who intend to submit a portfolio at the end of the contest.
The Thinkific educational platform contains information and activities covering various topics related to the industry such as BQA certification, health, nutrition and more. In order to access these materials simply create an account through the link below by clicking the "Start" button. When participating in the NJHA Fed Steer Shootout, all junior members must have completed their BQA certification, and we encourage you to take the course and submit your certificate through Thinkific as soon as possible. If you have already completed a BQA training in the past, please confirm it has not expired and upload your most recent training. |
